These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Vaulted LLC, a Washington State limited liability company ("Vaulted," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Vaulted mobile application, website at vaultedexplore.app, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

Vaulted is a community platform for discovering, documenting, and sharing information about abandoned, historic, and otherwise interesting locations ("places"). The Service allows users to:
All location information on Vaulted is user-generated and provided for informational and community archival purposes only. We do not endorse, encourage, or facilitate entry onto private property, trespassing, or any illegal activity.
To use most features of the Service, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at [email protected].
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we believe, in our sole discretion, have been registered with false information, are being operated by a previously banned individual, or pose a risk to the community.
Vaulted uses a trust score system to reflect a user's standing and contribution within the community. Trust score is earned exclusively through community participation — such as submitting places, providing condition updates, receiving bookmarks from other users, and adding memories. Trust score cannot be purchased, gifted, or transferred under any circumstances.
Trust tiers (Newcomer → Beginner → Intermediate → Trusted → Vault Elite) govern access to certain content and features. Vaulted reserves the right to adjust tier thresholds, point values, and feature gating rules at any time.
Actions that violate these Terms may result in trust score reductions, strikes, or account termination. Trust score determinations made by our moderation team are final and not subject to appeal except through the informal dispute resolution process described in Section 13.
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service ("User Content"), including place listings, comments, photos, and memories. By submitting User Content, you grant Vaulted a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
All photos you upload are automatically processed to remove embedded EXIF metadata — including GPS coordinates, device identifiers, and timestamps — before storage. Processed images are converted to WebP format and stored in Cloudflare R2. We do this to protect your privacy and the privacy of others who may appear in or be associated with your photos.
Uploaded images are reviewed by automated systems that detect adult content, violence, and other policy-violating material. Flagged images are placed in a human moderation queue for review. Images that violate our policies are permanently deleted from storage. User accounts with repeated violations are subject to trust score penalties, suspension, or permanent ban.
You may not submit User Content that:
Users may report place listings, comments, and other users they believe violate these Terms. We review reports and take action at our discretion. Submitting false or abusive reports may result in penalties to your own account.
Vault Pass is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features, including:
Vault Pass does not grant any trust score advantage, accelerate trust tier progression, or provide any moderation benefit.
Vault Pass subscriptions are processed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) via RevenueCat. Pricing, billing frequency, and cancellation terms are governed by the relevant app store's subscription policies. We do not directly handle or store payment card information.
You may earn Vault Pass credits by inviting new users who reach a certain trust score threshold. Credits may be redeemed to extend or activate a Vault Pass subscription on a day-for-credit basis. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are forfeited upon account termination.
You may cancel your Vault Pass subscription at any time through your device's app store subscription management settings. Refunds are handled by the applicable app store in accordance with their policies. We do not issue refunds directly.
We reserve the right to modify Vault Pass pricing or features. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes to paid subscription benefits via email or in-app notification before they take effect.
In addition to the content restrictions in Section 5, you agree not to:
Vaulted is a documentation and community platform. The presence of any location on the Service does not constitute Vaulted's endorsement of visiting that location, and does not imply that visiting the location is legal, safe, or otherwise permitted. You are solely responsible for determining the legal status of any property and obtaining all necessary permissions before entering or visiting any location.
All location data — including addresses, coordinates, condition updates, difficulty ratings, and access descriptions — is user-generated. Vaulted makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, legality, safety, or current condition of any location listed on the Service. Conditions at any location may have changed since a listing was posted. You rely on this information entirely at your own risk.
Urban exploration involves inherently dangerous activities, including but not limited to: structural instability, exposure to hazardous materials, falls, confined spaces, and encounters with other persons or animals. By using the Service, you acknowledge these risks and assume full personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of anyone who accompanies you to any location you discover through the Service.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Vaulted LLC, its members, managers, officers, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, and fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) any User Content you submit; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any third party's rights; (e) your visit to or activities at any location discovered through the Service; or (f) any claim that your User Content caused damage to a third party.
The Vaulted name, logo, platform design, software, and all original content created by Vaulted (excluding User Content) are owned by Vaulted LLC and protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use our name, logo, or branding without our prior written consent.
You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to grant us the rights to your User Content as described in Section 5, and that your User Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights.
If you believe any content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at [email protected] with a description of the claimed infringement and sufficient information to identify the content at issue.
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen within the Vaulted mobile app. Upon deletion, your profile, places, and memories are removed from the Service. Comments are anonymized rather than deleted to preserve community context.
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine in our sole discretion that you have violated these Terms, engaged in prohibited conduct, or for any other reason we believe is necessary to protect the Service or the safety of our community.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5.1, 8.4, 9, 12, 13, and 14 — will remain in effect.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VAULTED LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, TITLE, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE PRACTICE.
VAULTED DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE FROM HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. VAULTED DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR USEFULNESS OF ANY CONTENT OR INFORMATION AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL VAULTED LLC OR ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT WILL VAULTED LLC'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO VAULTED IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00 USD).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make a good-faith effort to do the same. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days of initial contact, either party may pursue formal proceedings.
Except as provided in Section 13.4, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be finally resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in Washington State or, at your election, via written submissions or video conference. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Either party may bring an individual claim in a Washington State small claims court if the claim qualifies and remains within that court's jurisdiction.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to resolve disputes with Vaulted on an individual basis only. You waive any right to bring or participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, provide in-app or email notice before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account as described in Section 10.
